Elbow Cay

Elbow Cay, a picturesque barrier island in the Abaco Islands of the Bahamas, is renowned for its rich history, vibrant community, and stunning natural beauty. The island's main settlement, Hope Town, was established in 1785 by British Loyalists, including Wyannie Malone, and is characterized by its pastel-colored cottages and narrow, pedestrian-friendly streets.

A prominent feature of Elbow Cay is the Elbow Reef Lighthouse, one of the last operational kerosene-fueled lighthouses in the world, built in 1863.  The island offers pristine white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant coral reefs, making it a haven for snorkeling, diving, and boating enthusiasts.

Despite facing significant challenges, including the devastation from Hurricane Dorian in 2019, the resilient community has worked diligently to restore the island's charm and infrastructure.  Visitors to Elbow Cay can enjoy a blend of historical exploration, natural wonders, and warm Bahamian hospitality, making it a captivating destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure.
